These are 7 situations that mums and dads react to differently

You have almost certainly heard many times that women are from Venus and men are from Mars. There is probably no need to explain to any adult that this is indeed the case: men and women react completely differently to plenty of situations. Parenthood is notably one such case. Here are 7 situations that mums and dads react to really differently.

Do you come across them in your home too?

#1 Mums are more fearful

Surely you have come across the fact that activities liable to set off a panic attack in your mother are considered by your father to be something completely normal and natural. This happens in almost every household, and while mothers usually pay more attention to child safety, fathers tend to have a much more liberal attitude.

#2 A different approach to mess at home

When a child arrives to a family, everything changes, which can be a problem for people who previously loved their perfectly tidy household. But with a small child, something like this is not possible. Many mums cannot put up with it and try in vain to keep the house as clean as possible. But men perceive things differently, and many times they do not even notice a mess so concerning that a woman feels she can no longer even look at it.

#3 Baby’s crying

Parents tend to react differently to the baby's crying. While women usually instinctively get up immediately and try to calm the child, men prefer to let the child cry, or they do not even wake at all. This (contrary to the belief of many women) is probably not be due to the fact that men are born with some invisible earplugs, but rather because of the biologically given bond that a mother has with her child.

#4 Men need an “interpreter”

It is also interesting to note that when children learn to talk, mums in most cases know instinctively almost exactly what they are trying to say. But this "innate interpreter" function often doesn't work so reliably with fathers, so they have to count on needing some assistance in the matter.

#5 Dads try to protect their child with actions

This is especially true when a child has a problem, for example, when they are being bullied or when someone has not treated them well. Parents' reactions tend to be different in this case as well. While mothers usually try to solve everything in a rational and non-conflicting way, fathers do not choose this "path of least resistance" and want to act immediately in an effort to protect their children.

#6 Mums always have more questions

When a child reaches a certain age and becomes more independent, it is natural for them to go out with their friends. Parents' reactions tend to be different in this case as well. While mums need to know if their child has eaten, where they are going, with whom they are going, what they will do there, when they return home and whether they have done all the homework, dads tend to be much more benevolent and do not need to know all the details.

#7 Everything changes during their first relationship

As soon as your child grows up and begins to develop their first romantic relationship, everything changes once and for all. While mums are usually the ones who support their child in this, it is completely different for dads. Most of the time, they think their child is still too young for a relationship (no matter how old they really are), and they need to know everything about a potential partner.
