The Unicorn Who Had a Secret

Felix was a unicorn. In addition to that, he was the only unicorn on a farm full of horses. When the farmer first brought him there, Felix was scared. He was about half the size of everyone else. He had short legs, a round belly, and a terrified look. He also had a bluish-pink horn sticking out of his forehead.

What can I possibly do here among all these horses? I’m so small, they’ll definitely laugh at me. And what if they don’t want to make friends with me? Felix was filled with so many concerns as he stepped out of the horsebox.

However, he needn't have worried. The horses were super friendly — they accepted Felix at once.

“Oh, boy! We’ve never had a unicorn here before! This is great!” said Theodore, the most handsome of the horses, offering his warmest greeting. The other horses joined him in welcoming Felix. They each introduced themself to him and admired his horn.

Felix felt relieved. It seems as if they don’t mind that my legs are short, he thought to himself. And indeed, no one minded at all.

The horses then introduced Felix to everyone else on the farm, after which they showed him to his stable — it was separate from that of the horses. They told him where water could be found, where the tastiest grass grows, and where he can chew on the best trees. They also told him when the farmer usually gets there, and what sorts of things happen on the farm.
