Once upon a time, in a little kingdom in the sky, there lived a little starlet. She had everything she wanted: friends, a kind family – her star mummy, her star daddy and her star brother – and a beautiful star-shaped house.
In that house she also had a little bed that was shaped like a star. Her pillow and duvet were full of stars and there was even a star aquarium on the table where her pet starfish lived.
But one thing was making the little starlet sad. Mrs Starburst, her teacher at kindergarten, had never yet given her a gold star stamp for her work.
You see, Mrs Starburst gave gold star stamps to all the little stars who had done their work really well. And most of the other starlets at kindergarten already had lots of them! But the little starlet found the activities quite difficult. For example, one day, they had to find the way through a maze and draw a line with their pencil all the way to the exit. One day they had to join the dots from 1 to 10 to make a picture of a star and then colour it in neatly with the right colour.
But the little starlet had only started at kindergarten this year, and she still had clumsy fingers. She wasn’t very good at drawing and she often made mistakes. She felt that the other little stars were much more clever than she was.
“It’s okay, little sparkle,” her mummy reassured her. “It just takes practice. You’ll get a little bit better at it every day, you’ll see. And after all your hard work, that star stamp will make you all the happier when you finally get it!”
