“Look at those beautiful sunflowers, Daddy!” Dorothy exclaimed as she and her father passed a field full of rows and rows of tall, golden yellow sunflowers. Right after lunch, they had both ridden out on their bikes to visit Dorothy’s grandparents, and now they were on their way home. The sun was shining brightly, the birds were singing and Dorothy was singing along with them. But now she carefully stopped at the side of the road and turned to look at her father, who was riding along behind her.
“Let’s take a closer look, Daddy,” the little girl suggested.
Her dad stopped behind his inquisitive daughter and replied with a smile, “All right, why not?”
Dorothy screamed with joy. They both took off their helmets and parked their bikes at the edge of the field. Dorothy ran up to the flowers.
“Wow!” she exclaimed in amazement, her brown eyes wide open. “They’re actually taller than me!” She tried to jump as high as she could. She wanted to see what it was like to be as tall as one of these bright flowers that were swaying lightly in their rows and making a gentle swishing sound, as though they were chatting with the gentle warm breeze.
Daddy picked Dorothy up and all of a sudden she was taller than even the tallest of the sunflowers. She could see the whole beautiful field laid out before her. She was amazed at just how many sunflowers there were.
“Couldn’t we pick one and bring it home to Mummy?” Dorothy said. “She would love that!”
Her dad didn’t hesitate, he put Dorothy back on the ground and chose three beautiful sunflowers from the edge of the field. He picked them and carefully laid them down in the grass near…
