Once upon a time there was a little car called Sunny. He was a beautiful yellow colour, just like the sunshine, but there wasn’t anything else special about him. In fact, he looked a lot like all the other little cars you see on the street every day.

Sunny had four wheels, a bonnet, lights, wipers, and a windscreen, and on the inside there was a steering wheel and two seats – one for the driver and one for a passenger. In short, if it hadn’t been for his bright yellow colour, no one would have paid him any attention.

There was one other thing that was different about this little car, though. He really wanted to be a racing car.

The other cars laughed at Sunny. They made fun of him wanting to race and tried to discourage him from it.

“Just look at yourself,” an old bus said. “Do you think any racing car looks like that? These are racing cars.” He waved a picture of a Formula 1 car in front of Sunny’s nose. “You’d fall apart at the speed of real races.”

The bus meant well, but it made Sunny sad. It didn’t help that some of the other cars had started to taunt him, too.

“Hey Sunny, look who’s dreaming about a golden trophy again,” one car yelled at him, tapping on his chassis.

“He’s only racing in his head, though!” another car shouted.

Sunny wanted to protest and to give them what for, but he realized that they were actually right. He kept on telling everyone how he would one day become a racing car. It bothered him when the other cars talked him out of it, or made fun of his plans. But he hadn’t thought about the…
