In the Barrows’ kitchen, there was a fridge. And inside the fridge, there was an egg, stuck in place for three days straight.

It got to know the yoghourt, the butter, the ham and all of its other neighbours. The kids were home for spring break and they would read the same fairy tales in the kitchen over and over again.

The egg would listen through the fridge door with excitement. It devoured their stories, no matter if it was about princesses or transforming robots. Of all the fairy tales, though the egg liked the one about the wandering egg the most.

The wandering egg had had quite a journey: it met a rooster, a crayfish, a goose, and even a horse. It rolled all the way to the edge of the world where it met bandits and defeated them – like a true hero.

The fridge egg was very inspired by this tale. But it hadn’t seen any roosters, horses or crayfish anywhere in the fridge. It heard there were some shrimps in the freezer, but it never actually met them. As soon as the holiday ended, the egg took it into its head to also set out on a journey to the world’s end and make some new friends along the way.

When Mrs Barrow opened the fridge just before breakfast, the egg quietly jumped outside and landed on a soft cushion on a chair. Then it quietly hopped down on a shaggy carpet and waited in silence.

Once the Barrows were gone, the egg started rolling to the edge of the world. Sadly, it had no idea where the end of the world actually was. So it just rolled through the open door… And it rolled and rolled until it carefully rolled over…
